From the childhood “pinky swear” humans have looked for assurance. Who can we trust? On Sunday night we looked at the importance of keeping our word.
God keeps his word (Psalm 89:34), which is why we trust him. He is consistent, which is what we are asked to be.
Contrary to what we see around us, God expects us to:
- Carefully consider the cost of our promises (Luke 14:27-29)
- Keep the promises we make (Ecclesiastes 5:1-5)
- Be so true to our word that it can stand on its own (Matthew 5:37)
How good are we at keeping our promises to each other, and more importantly how can we do a better job of keeping our promises to God?
Join us next week when we take a look at how troubles in life can be used to form our character.
